This is a very interesting twist to our regular rasam. This is made without using tamarind & dal. However it tastes very much like a spicy tangy rasam but its little more thicker in consistency. I tried this for the first time & was not disappointed by the end result.
You need:
3 tomatoes blended into a puree along with some ginger & garlic
2 tomatoes finely chopped
3 green chillies chopped finely
Methi seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing for tempering
turmeric powder
salt
curry leaves
cilantro
Directions:
In pan, add 1 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, methi seeds, hing & curry leaves. Now add the chopped tomatoes . Cook till the tomatoes are cooked well. Now add the tomato puree, green chillies, turmeric powder & 1 cup water. Mix well & cook for 5-6 mins. Now add little besan water in this to thicken the kadhi. Bring this mixture to boil. Add chopped cilantro & serve hot with steamed rice.
