Healthy Falafel cooked in appe pan

Healthy Falafel cooked in Appe pan

Have been wanting to try falafel for a long time now. I was initially planning to bake these falafels but my husband suggested that we try using the appe pan instead. I mean after all it is so much easier than baking for me! So this turned out healthy as expected.

You need:
For Falafel -
2 cups chickpeas boiled or canned chickpeas
1 cup chopped parsley
1 cup chopped coriander
4 cloves of garlic
4 green chillies
Juice of 2 lemons
Dhania jeera powder
Salt

Method:
Grind all of the above to a smooth paste. The batter would be little runny at this point. Now add 1 cup of oats flour (Just grind oats dry to make a fine powder). Mix well. Now the consistency should be of a loose dough that is firm enough to be handled. I have used this Appe pan. You can get it here - TABAKH Bright AppamPatra Paniyaram Non Stick Pan with Stainless Steel Lid Take an appe pan, add 1/4 tsp of olive oil in each depression. Now with a spoon, pour in each of them evenly. It will take few minutes to cook, now flip them to the other side. Add little oil to each before flipping. Your falafels are ready.

Items you need for assembling the dish:
1 large finely chopped onion
2 finely chopped tomatoes
1 cup of finely chopped spinach and lettuce
2 tbsp of humus (I used the ready one, would love to make one at home soon)
2 tbsp of siracha
2 Pita pockets

Warm the pita packets in a microwave for 20 seconds. Spread the siracha and humus on the insides of the pocket. Now add few spoons of the salad and 2 falafels. You can break them into few pieces if you want. Now that your wrap is ready, what you waiting for..hog in! :)
