Ragda Pattice Bombay Isshtyle!
When you are living far away from your hometown, you miss everything about that place, specially if that city is Bombay! Apart from your home, your family and friends you miss the street food. All of you must have that one street food vendor who would be your go to person when you are craving for some tasty food. All these street foods taste better when eaten by the street rather than in some fancy restaurant. Ragda Pattice is one such dish. It just cant taste the same if eaten in a hotel. It is a very simple dish, the main trick is the assembly and the chutneys need to taste right. This dish totally resonates with the attitude of Bombayites - simple to make, classy to look at and unbeatable taste!
Ingredients:
For the Ragda
2 cups White Chana
1 tsp haldi
1 tbsp chilly powder
Pinch of Hing
1 tbsp Tamarind and Date chutney
Salt to taste
For the Pattice
4-5 potatoes
1 tsp haldi
Salt as per taste
Oil for shallow frying
For the Assembly
1 large onion finely chopped
1 cup of chopped cilantro
Nylon Sev
Spicy green chutney
Tamarind and Date chutney
Method:
For the Ragda
Boil the chana with haldi and salt. In a pan, add the boiled chana, little water, chilly powder and meetha chutney. Bring it to boil and take it off the heat. Keep is aside.
For the Pattice
Boil the potatoes with haldi and salt. Once boiled, mash them and make small tikkis. Shallow fry them in a non stick tawa till they golden brown.
For the Assembly
In a serving bowl, place 2-3 tikkis. Add the ragda, theeka and meetha chutney, sprinkle onions and cilantro. Finally add sev on top and serve them. They are so yummy that it will over in no time! Enjoy Bombay's favorite street side dish at the comfort of your home.
